Looks like it is scheduled for house debate tomorrow!
How do most folks here feel about the minimum age of 18 to conceal carry?
I agree, even if it's a scary thought right now. I want them to teach marksmanship and home economics in HS again. People need to learn everything from how to start a local business to how to file their taxes before they leave HS, so they know how to be invested in their communities and themselves rather than just focusing on learning the answers to government tests for carrots on strings. These things would help people mature and think about the future in a more confident way.At 18 you are considered an adult with all the rights and responsibilities that come with adulthood…and consequences. We should expect more from adults, not less. Lowering expectations only leads to further decline. It is good that they are honoring 18, 19, and 20 year old adults’ natural and constitutionally protected rights.

That's one of the reasons I'm keeping my CHP.Subsection N. of the law reads:
"No concealed handgun may be carried into and no concealed handgun permit issued pursuant to this Section shall authorize or entitle a permittee to carry a concealed handgun in any of the following:
...
(10) Any portion of the permitted area of an establishment that has been granted a Class A-General retail permit, as defined in Part II of Chapter 1 or Part II of Chapter 2 of Title 26 of the Louisiana Revised Statutes of 1950, to sell alcoholic beverages for consumption on the premises."

Middendorfs has a Class-A Restaurant license, meaning you are okay to carry there.

An example of somewhere you couldn't carry is Fred's (the popular college bar in BR):

What would be the diff in current chp and new carry law with this situation? That's one of the reasons I'm keeping my CHP.
You would still need a CHP to go in the restaurants (the ones I go to) and to be within 1000' of a school and when buying from a FFLWhat would be the diff in current chp and new carry law with this situation?
Glad we have a God fearing, law and order American patriot as our Governor now!
You spelled Conservative wrong. But, I get what you’re saying. One word says all that: Republican!
I agreeAt 18 years old I was a man, hell, at 16 years old I was a man. That was a long time ago. These days I'm meeting people in their 30's that act like babies.
I might be more inclined to believe, because a person under 21 can't purchase a handgun (from a retail seller), then maybe that should be the age for concealed carry.
I’m more inclined to believe, the age to purchase a handgun from a retail seller should be lowered to 18.At 18 years old I was a man, hell, at 16 years old I was a man. That was a long time ago. These days I'm meeting people in their 30's that act like babies.

At 16-18, I was very immature but at the same time I was responsible for the safe delivery of people to various places every single day and I respected that position. I had guns, had access to more guns, and even after 16 years of horrific bullying I did not act out in rage against people or with malice and evil intent. In reality, I was a lot more responsible than I realized before this self-reflection.At 18 years old I was a man, hell, at 16 years old I was a man. That was a long time ago. And that's another big piece of anti-2a culture, right? Many kids today are taught to think that guns are evil, so that's another way to chip away at the 2nd amendment, without being a legislative attack.Kids were different back then though, so much tougher emotionally than the kids right now/these days. They are mostly fragile snowflakes now, so I'm not too sure how things like this Constitutional Carry will go at first. I have not noticed an uptick in violence in Constitution respecting States so they may be more resilient than I think.
Whaddyamean HAD?
Polls wound be an obvious requirement. Might not be super accurate but I can read between the margins. That will certainly be the case. I imagine it's difficult to get accurate statistics on it, though.
