I’ve got an original Bushmaster that hasn’t failed me in about 20 years.
Old school Windham built bushmaster are good to go.. they were pick of the litter back in the day before the ownership transfer and separation… in fact there wasn’t but a handful of company’s back then that sold ar’s lol

In this war your friend will be in. What's the terrain? What's his role? Will he have others with him? What will they be using? Is he backpacking it or buckled in protecting his base? Will he be in a frog suit and under water for any amount of time? Sniper? CQB?
He will probably need more then one AR. Because I'm sure he will be training for this war.. Id say that's any easy 10k of ammo used per year. So probably need to keep stock of extra parts.

Unless you mean prepare for war in that he will be sitting on his couch drinking a beer and mad because all he can find on Craigslist are transgender and gay men.
Well that took an interesting turn lol. He is looking for the best accurate gun no matter the name or price lol. I was asking what gun would actually be war worthy. Givin our current climate, what would the normal guy prefer to own that could last the longest of an invasion of America? Knowing that factories would be shut down and parts would be scarce, what would be the best option? And the other thing would be great if Craigslist shutdown because nobody wants to find themselves stuck in a tranny train.

Ars are like every other option in this world…trucks, boats, tools, atv’s, cloths, cars, ect… there is a budget, mid, top and Gucci…. just gotta pick what you like and what works best for you….

No right or wrong answer… but just about any budget into ar15 will outlast 99.99999% of the shooters in the world… in fact when they would consider them broke well used they prob won’t even be broke in lol…. The statement is correct about uppers and lowers for the most part… the money comes in when you are adding quality parts and proprietary parts

I agree with the DD, BCM, Colt, LMT, and the other top tier recommendations, but the question burning in my head is: Will you last long enough in this "fight" for the robust durability of these top tier rifles to actually come into play?
Whatever this "fight" is, I wouldn't anticipate having the logistics support, fire support, and infantry support that veterans like myself had in the sandbox. In other words, your life expectancy will be shorter than any AR-15 on the market.
In the case of defending a home invasion against multiple threats or defending your home in a Katrina or riots situation, you won't use the rifle enough to break even a low end AR or get your money's worth on a high end AR.
Reliable magazines and ammo are actually greater factors. After that, proper lube and maintenance. My M16A2 would have FTFs on the range with government mags, but was flawless with Magpul.
Of course we all love our toys and enjoy collecting and owning the very best if we can get it. I think it's best to simply buy what you like after doing your research.

And AR-15 is a poor choice if war broke out in the USA. It was made for field troops to return to base and be tended to by an Armorer. It is a gun that has to be cleaned a lot. Maybe the piston driven AR-15s are better but I do not have any experience with them. I do know that a piston driven or roller delay firearms are much cleaner after shooting hundreds of rounds than a gas impingement AR-15.

War breaks out my plan is to hit the woods and hopefully never have to take a shot, unless it’s for food and save the suppressed subsonics for that lol.. many will walk by and never know I’m there

I don’t plan on running and hiding in the woods. No AC and mosquitoes….I will make my last stand where I’ve built my Alamo. You youngsters that can survive in the woods can come by and get my stuff when I’m gone. On the other hand there will be FEMA Resorts available during the last push for those wanting 5 Star accommodations.

Colt, BCM, Daniel Defense. There are a few others but those come to mind for quality and cost.
Took two pages to wade through the soy boys and find someone who knows anything. COLT is the name in AR15 rifles. The problem is, peeps today want their AR to look like an exotic sports car. Not sure how many FerARri’s actually make it into real service.
Sure, DD and BCM have great track records too.
The only brand new out of the box Geissele I ever touched was nonfunctional on delivery. I posted a thread about it.
PSA also makes budget rifles, so many people overlook their premium BCG’s, CHF barrels and all their standard mil spec parts and build kits.

Those evil black guns are too dangerous and scary for me to even look at.
I'ma going to stick with plan A here at the house by gut hooking cotton mouths and hanging these at face level on the front and back pathways leading in.
Know how mad a cotton mouth gets after a few days hanging in a tree? He will hit anything walking past.
Probably the screams of the ones being struck in the face will be enough warning?

That’s what I’m talking about!!! I’m with you on that one. I’m glad I have a SilencerCo Hybrid 46m for that. Might not be the quickest on some guns, but it fits everything I own for sure!
