      Non resident purchasing

Contiguous? What do they mean by "contiguous" states? Those that share a common border as in AR, TXand MS? Or do they mean the 48? In other words, is it illegal for a LA resident to purchase a rifle in a state other than MS, TX or AR and bring it home?

Are LA CCW laws too cumbersome?

Couldn't have said it better myself. While we're at it, I'd like to add that I don't see how the affidavits "weed out" incompetents or make permitees any more responsible, either. I think they were feel good measures that were thrown in to push the bill through against opposition. Well, at...

Are LA CCW laws too cumbersome?

Take another look... "Where the system has failed is that situations which require serious self defense tools like firearms don't just happen to people who meet Louisiana's criteria for CCW permits." Nothing in that statement makes any inferences about any class or economic discrimination...

      Over and Under's

A couple of friends recently bought Franchi O/U guns. I liked them a lot. Seemed to be a great value for under $1,000. I went in search of one myself, and wound up bringing home a Weatherby Athena. Also very nice, but more expensive. It would be hard to say which is better.

Are LA CCW laws too cumbersome?

dawg, It was never my intention to distort your comments. Indeed, they remain here unaltered in all of your posts. And while I do enjoy a healthy debate, I was never part of any team, varsity or otherwise, nor do I aspire to become a politician. For the record, I'll bet you're a nice guy...

Are LA CCW laws too cumbersome?

Actually, we always had the right to carry concealed. "A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed." It doesnt say "the right of the people to keep and bear arms in plain view". Prohibiting...

Are LA CCW laws too cumbersome?

The world is not a safe place. But we shouldn't be so quick to trade freedom for feelings of security. I worry about my loved ones too, but I really don't worry that some law-abiding guy is going to accidentally shoot them. And I'd like to make it easer for you, me and everybody else to have the...

      The Shooters Club

Well, I'd like to weigh in. I have bought a couple of Kimbers there, and hundreds of dollars in reloading equipment, AR15 parts, 1911 mags and parts, etc. I like the parts selection they have, I like that they stay open late enough to get some shooting in after a work day. I also think some of...

      Bayou Dragon???

I've shot there twice. It's pretty expensive, considering they require you to purchase targets from them. I can't bring myself to spend that much on a single sheet of paper, $1.50 IIRC. I could make do with loose leaf paper and a sharpie marker rather than buy targets at that price. Still...

New Shooters Club Range = A+

I know exactly what y'all are talking about. The little bit of gas that escapes from the charging handle slot on my AR15 reeks of ammonia or some such whenever I shoot the Monarch stuff. It's much better outdoors.

Is it worth stocking up on highcap mags?

Well, if the new McCarthy ban goes into effect, you wouldn't be able to transfer those magazines anyway. At least that's what I got out of reading the bill.

Are LA CCW laws too cumbersome?

Yes, I am grateful that we can get permits at all, albiet with quite a bit of red tape. The right to carry apparently did go away with the stroke of a pen when the LA constitution had the bit about regulating concealed carry written in there. "Back then" was what 10 or 12 years ago? I'm...

Hollow Points not working well with 1911?

I'd makesure you get their regular gunsmith to do the work. One of their counter jockeys mangled an install of some meprolight sights on my custom II. Nice kd, but he shouldn't be allowed near the tool bench. They forgot to give me my old sights back as well. I'm not bashing SC by any...

Are LA CCW laws too cumbersome?

In an ideal world, yes. I think everyone should have some training and experience with firearms. That said, your average street thug who carries without a permit has zero formal training. I am far more woried about them shooting up a public place than a law abiding citizen. The fact is...

      Any EOTechs in the house?

Here's a vid of me shooting my High Standard with the AA Eotech on top. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mnb4QmNJLKw I have the N cell version on a different rifle at home.

Are LA CCW laws too cumbersome?

Based on an earlier thread here about the Florida requirements, and my own personal experience with Utah requirements, it seems like the Louisiana permits require way too much information. Frankly, I think we should go the Alaska route and de-regulate CC entirely. The permit process only...
