Reloading brass shot shells is different from paper or plastic. If you're going to use black powder, there's lots of information. Not so much for smokeless. I'm just starting, so I don't have any personal knowledge to give you, but here are some links that I've found interesting...
Oh, and you can shoot supersonic suppressed. With my set-up, it seems to be hearing safe outdoors. Inside a room might be another story, but I haven't tried that yet.
To ad to the info already posted;
The 300 BO is really versatile. If you want to get a suppressor, its the way to go. 5.56 is much noisier than 300, even suppressed. If you don't mind the second stamp, it's perfect for an SBR. My SBR (9" barrel) with suppressor attached is about the same length...
I just put one of those triggers in my PF9, and it is better. Doing that, and realizing that I'm not going to shoot the gun all that much, I decided to keep mine. It's a great gun for it's intended purpose. Lots better, in most ways, than my S&W model 38.
YMMV
If it helps dating your .380, I have sn 514526 and, according to the letter I got from Browning, it shipped from Browning in November of 1954.
Nice piece!
If anybody's interested...
The Hattiesburg Gun Show - Hattiesburg, Mississippi at the Forest County Multi-Purpose Building
August 6th and 7th, 2011
Hattiesburg, MS
Hours: Saturday 9am - 5pm, Sunday 10am - 5pm
I guess nobody wants to take the lead. I've built 4 since I first got into the thread.
As I said, I have all the necessary tools. I'm thinking that whoever is willing to host, calls the shots on when their place is available. :)
Good luck on that! ;)
I've heard other folks say the same. If I ever decide to sell it, I guess it'll have to be at a range. It's not as bad as most people think. Try one sometime. :)
I'm in. I have everything but the vise, because I can't host right now. I'm available any weekend (if there's not a gun show in Hattiesburg) and most of the time during the week. Metairie or Mandeville is close enough to Picayune for me, if I don't have to be there by 8 AM. :)
Off the top of my head;
receiver wrench
barrel vice
breaker bar
level, angle locator, or other barrel/receiver alignment tools
go/no gages
headspace pins (.250-.270)
screwdrivers
adjustable wrench
pliers (needle nose and standard)
hammer
swiss files
sandpaper (600 grit wet/dry)
barrel shaver...
This ole lady lived an interesting life, no doubt! Here's the other side of that lower. I'm still not convinced what the true origin of the ZA mark is. :confused:
The history of Republic of South Africa "FN rifles" is a bit confusing. The information about them is scattered, and mostly...
Hey dood! I'm good, but I've been AWOL. The FN Hi Power gods drug me away from FALs lately.
Those brown mags should make for a really neat set! I'm still thinking about that idea. Along with a dozen other ideas. So many FALs, so little money...
:( I guess I didn't do so well with that RSA...
This thread needs new blood...
Here's a gonnabeafaloneday;
And here's one that wasn't quite finished when I took the photo. It's almost completely correct now;
Tag for date and place. I might be able to make it, depending. I've built a couple, and have tools. I can make a list if it would help.
Pretty much any time (other than a Hattiesburg or Biloxi gun show weekend) is good for me.
