My father who lives in Houston has an old Colt 1911 that needs work done to it. He said for sure most of the blueing is gone and it's loose. It also needs other minor work according to him. He will bring it down next trip over here. My question, is anyone on the forum good at restoring these old 45's. He doesn't want a museum piece. Just a good shooter.

    Thanks,

    Charles

If he just wants a plain old carry gun why not just re-blue it and be done..

    And for tightening it up...

Here is a chart with all the parts and names of parts...

I like to do as much of my own work as possible.. Sometimes its not possible so I go to Gretna Gun and let them do the stuff I cant do....
I had them Parkerize a gun for me not long ago.. I dont know if they sent it off or did it in house but it was a great job...:D

The STI Spartan is for me. It's been in and out of a kydex holster more than I care to count. Cobalt Armor is really tuff. Daniel has my XD and STI 38super now. He should be updating his site soon.
