21" Saiga .308 Franken Gun

So I've had this idea in my head, thats not always a good thing but it looked something like this,

I have the furniture I want to use. Its an STG style stock set and grip. Forearm is standard AKM length so..........

Do I shorten the gas system ?
Use a FAL gas block if I shorten it ?
Do I leave it where it is and make a mount for the hand guards with a two piece gas tube ?

So, my ADD kicked into gear and here is where I am now. VEPER furniture. I freaking love these. Its just roughed in but the receiver cut is where it needs to be

I turned the factory piston down to FAL size.

I made a two piece gas tube. I ran out of Oxygen so the end cap on the large gas tube will be silver soldered, no gap. I chucked the FAL gas block up and opened it up to fit the SAIGA barrel.

I loath the ass end now, but I am intrigued by the front end! Will you be able to raise those sights enough to make them work? Also, kudos on that left side charger. Did you leave it ambidextrous or just move the charging handle to that side?

Really cool. Exactly what is it that your trying to solve with this creation? Whats the + of your end product? I guess having adjustable gas could be neat for .308 saiga.

First off, I'm not trying to solve anything. Im just doing it because I want to see if I can and if I can make it work.

I'm not sure what I'm going to do with the sights just yet. At the very least I will have to split the gas block to raise the ears. I might just make it an optics only rifle and just remove the ears all together.
I could mill the rear sight block flat and weld some steel picatinny rail on. Then remove the side scope mount. Just not sure.

As for the welding, I'm silver Soldering the charging handles and gas tube. Any holes in the receiver get mig'd.

If you have any ideas, throw them out there...........

So the light bulb went off today, what should I do for sights ?

Should I split the gas block and raise the ears to match the rear sight leaf ?
I cant use the scope mount because of the LS charger so its coming off.
Should I mill the rear sight block down and weld some steel rail in place ? If so, what should I use as an optic ?

I had cut the fit for the sight post behind the threads. Now what do I do ? Well, I needed a muzzle brake so we built this,
