    Hey All-

When I shoot my rifles, I usually go to the family property in Cantonment, FL, but I think I need somewhere a little closer to home. Are there any good rifle ranges near New Orleans? I have been to Bayou Dragon (or as I like to call it, the "leadquarters") and I don't want to get cancer before I turn 30.

Anyways, let me know what ranges may be nearby and if they are worth a damn. Plus, if anyone wants to go this week, I'm off, so let me know.

    J

I go to Bayou Dragon - Sometimes it is not bad and others it is horrible.

Southern shooting center in Thibodeaux goes to 300yds.

Those 2 are the best two past 100. Honey Island is cool also.

I forgot. There's also this place:

    High Point Shooting Grounds
Address: 1637 Marengo St., New Orleans, LA 70115
    Phone: 504-656-7575

I've never been able to confirm its existence. I've called a few times with no answer. The message says they are open on Sat. and Sun. for sporting clays? I'd love to now how you can shoot clays on Marengo. It's one block of St. Charles. That's got to be a pretty big place. Also, the message states the rifle and pistol range will be open sometime after the first of the year.

If anyone knows anything about that range, I'd love to hear it.

High Point is down past Belle Chasse. I'm pretty sure, but may be off on that.

There is a skeet & trap field below the Huey P. Long on the west bank.

    Tulse-

If we go, it will have to be tomorrow or Wednesday - I have family coming in on Wednesday afternoon. If you say Nick's is your place, we can do that. I'll be bringing the little lady with me, but she is quite a shot herself, and none too bad to look at:

Thanks for the recommendations, all. Anyone want to join me and Tulse?

Nicks is OK, but the range is expensive and sort of a dump. And for what its worth the sign there says "no NFA" items allowed, not sure if they include SBR's and cans in that restriction.
