This is gonna be really, really silly and probably include some grave ignorance on my part...here goes.

Considering both semi-auto pistols and rifles have rifling what distinguishes a semi-auto pistol from an SBR (short barreled rifle)?

Is there a certain length the barrel must have to break from the pistol classification to the rifle classification?

Is it the rifling of the barrel itself? The number of lands and grooves per length of the barrel?

Or am I just being a silly goose about the whole thing?

    :o

Gotcha. So technically, the picture below would be a modification that would transform a pistol into "an other weapon" and fall into that SBR category as it says on the page.

    Thanks pangris!

If you own a Glock handgun and you are about to buy this product, your handgun will become a Short-Barreled Rifle .
You must register your weapon with ATF.

    Baton Rouge... Mostly
That is correct. The addition of the stock makes it an SBR - UNLESS it is a C&R gun - for example, a friend of mine has a Luger from 1914 and he can add a stock to that.

    Again - poorly written law.

^ HAS to be a original Stock and not a Repo.

I have a Hi Power slotted for the stock... unfortunately the stocks (Originals) are ~$1,000
