    It kills on both ends.

I shot a 45-70 the other day to sight in a scope. I had my groups at less than 1 1/2 inches at 100 yards within a few rounds (really good bore sight on it... thanks Cabela's!).

The guy next to me had his 300 Win Mag and never could get anything done because he was nervous with the recoil. When I left, he was still trying to sight in the rifle. His shoulder had to be hurting. Way too much gun for this particular individual.

Lots of whammy on both ends of the gun.

I found it perfectly manageable for the handful of rounds I tried. However, I did shoot it standing up with 165 grain rounds. It seems like 180 grain rounds are more readily available so I think that's what I'll end up going with. Plus I plan on sitting while at the range and in the field. Because of that I think I'll add a Limbsaver recoil pad. I really can't imagine it being too abusive after that.
