LOL........yep, the Revised Statues will tell you more what you can't do

Ck around 14 :95 you'll find exceptions to constitutionaly protected activity, completely contained in a motor vehicle

Or just pull up next to a "unit" and holler, " I got a gun " , they know not to mess with u

    Remember, I didn't sleep @ a Holiday Inn X last nite

It s ok...if you can legaly have one you can legaly have one in your car.......IANAL

14:95.2 makes mention that "entirely within a motor vehicle" is constitutionally protected and cannot be regulated by the state.

The LA constitution says we have the right to bear arms, EXCEPT for weapons concealed ON THE PERSON.

This is what LSP has on their website in the FAQ.

    Concealed Handguns Frequently Asked Questions

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Q. Can I carry my handgun in my vehicle?

    A. Louisiana law does not expressly prohibit the carrying of handguns in vehicles. This is a complicated issue. We suggest that you refer to Louisiana Revised Statutes (L.R.S.) Title 14 Sections 95; 95.1; 95.2; 95.6; 95.7; 95.8. Information on these statutes can be obtained at http://www.legis.state.la.us or in the “Laws and Rules” section of our web page (http://www.lsp.org/handguns.html).

I don't think so. It mentions a motor vehicle being an area that is constitutionally protected and can't be regulated by the state.

It would be different if the exception simply said "or entirely contained in a motor vehicle." They went beyond that and made a written mention that the car is protected by the LA constitution.

And the constitution implies it by not restricting it.

It's definitely better than not being mentioned at all.

to make this clear i can keep a LOADED hand gun in my car. simply yes or no.

As long as you can legally own one, yes.:)

The LSP website tells us "this is a complicated issue." I call BS on that. In Louisiana, this issue isn't complicated at all- until you run into someone who doesn't understand the law.

you can keep a gun in your car,,

Our laws tell you what you can't do, not what you can.

    ding...ding...ding... Great Point Spanky

    Laws restrict, not allow.

Constitutions however are different :D ...supposedly...

ALL Concealed Carry Laws in Louisiana deal with "ON YOUR PERSON" as in "YOU" Carrying it on yourself.

This means having it under your seat, are the glove box, or ON the seat, or in the cup holder or stashed in the Headrest etc.etc. is PERFECTLY LEGAL!

    Loaded, unloaded makes no difference.
