Is there a textbook or something similar that instructors use for the CCW classes? Being deaf, I always liked to read the textbook (or the assigned chapter) before lecture so that I can be able to follow the lecture and/or understand it. So... does anyone know of any good "firearm safety" textbooks OR books that are used in CCW classes? Thanks!

I think each instructor has a little different approach on teaching but they all have to cover the minimum material. I bet if you pm nolacop he could give you some links with good information. With that said honestly if you know basic firearm safety the rest is pretty much common sense besides for LA laws which you can read about at lsp.org

many base their class off of the NRA's basic pistol, but that will not cover any of the legal stuff.

aLSO nra'S PERSONAL PROTECTION IN THE HOME AND PERSONAL PROTECTION OUTSIDE THE HOME ARE GOOD PROGRAMS ALSO. I USE THE dvd'S SOMETIMES IN MY CLASSES sometimes

If you cannot get your hands on one, let me know. i probaly have one laying around I can send to you.

Please, if you find any literature firearm safety and/or CCW, and you won't miss it, I'd love to have it. However, I'd hate for you to have to go out of your way looking for it. I hate to be an inconvenience.

Yup "NRA guide to the basics of pistol shooting" I got one here in mint condition you can have if you're around Lafayette.

"I can HAVE?" as in a very generous donation or a short loan? I'm really big on books because my ears don't work well, so if you do have any literature on handgun safety and/or CCW, i'd love to read it. Yeah, I'm near Lafayette. I live in St. Martinville. However, I am in Galveston until Wednesday (May 19).

A donation, not sure how generous, it's very basic material but its the book I think everyone uses for the classes. Well I'll be headed to Galveston on the 19th you'd have to catch me at 5 am before crew change, I could leave it in a ziplock on the tire of my car in the parking lot or something (very small parking lot easy to find at scholes field). Otherwise I'll be back on the 26th.

I looked at your past posts saw you were looking for a small CCW class. Check out http://www.thepostexchange.com/ he's in Youngsville, was just 2 of us in the class when I took it, at his house, very laid back, shot in the back yard.
