Does anyone make a true 5 round AR mag? Just picked up a ruger american predator .223 that takes standard ar mags. 20 and 30s protrude way to far to be practical. 10s arent terrible but wouldnt mind a couple 5s if they would fit fairly flush. Only thing im coming up with is a promag 10 with a limiter for 5 rounds.

prob 10 round p mag would look the cleanest.... all would have to be at least long enough to clear magwell on ar15
Likely my best option but i may look some c-products metal mags. Got to digging and found a couple old colt 20s that are considerably shorter than the 20 rd pmag. 6.5 grendel 10rd mag next to them for reference. It actually fits pretty well without to terribly much protrusion.

Someone may but it may be like 6.5 grendel mags where there are 5 rounders but they are exactly the same size as 10 rounders

I have a C products 5 rd metal mag I bought intending to hunt with my AR, never happened. You could try it and buy it from me if you want.

If you can find a factory PLR-16 mag…I believe they are 10 rounders but fit flush. Not 100% sure it will lock in a mil-spec lower but it is flush fit in the kel-tec which also takes standard AR mags.

I have an American in 300 BLK and the 10 round PMAG is a real nice fit. I’m pretty sure all you will find in 5 round 5.56 mags are going to use a 10 round mag body. I understand if you’re limited to 5 rounds where you hunt, but there are times when you may not. The promag roller mags have 5 and 10 round versions in the same size. The 10 rounders work like a champ for me and were pretty cheap at academy. The 10 round mags stick out 1 and 7/8 inches

That was one of the reason I didn’t go with the American .300bo… I was wanting one bad but the standard ar mag which was prob a huge increase for most was less than desirable for my hunting situation… and since I already reload and got a lot of good load data for the .308 supers and subs, I went with the ol’ 16.5” rem 700aac .308… if I could have found an older Ruger American .300bo with the flush factory mag might have changed my mind..
