Real simple. We have something the rest of the World needs more than oil.

    FOOD!

All we need to do is tell the OIL producers the following:

The price of our food exports will be tied to their price of oil.
Whatever the price per barrel of oil then we will charge the same price for a barrel of food. If oil is $150 barrel then a barrel of rice, corn, wheat,
etc., will also be $150 a barrel.

Period, the end. They can take it or leave it, or, sell their oil for $5 a barrel.

Last year saudi arabia removed all tariffs on imported food, in response to rising food costs. That lowered their cost of food, but essentially increased further the price for everyone else.

Just a tidbit my econ professor told us.

This sounds like something Nancy Pelosi would suggest. Are you really talking about giving up principles for a free market economy Jim or is this a rant about the high oil prices??? If prices were set by oil producers do you really think right now they'd be almost half of what they were six months ago?

The problem with saying something like that is that there are people here who will really believe that would work, and even if it didn't that the blame should still go in that direction. They'll slowly give up their freedoms under the false pretense that it will save them at the pump.
