Got a few photos. Amazing. Last B-29 and 1 of 2 Remaining airworthy B-24s. This one is the cargo version.

    The "Diamond Lil" B-24A
When I saw her last weekend at the Southern Heritage Air Show in Tallulah I didn't realize how rare she was. Maybe I should have paid the $450 for a 30 min ride.

    EDIT:

This is "Diamond Lil" taxiing in after landing at VTR last weekend. We got there just in time to see her land and had to wait on her to get parked to continue to the air show.

today was really nice at the lakefront, could not ask for better weather. there were a few vets on hand, one gent was there with his sons - he had been a b17 waist gunner. it was great when the two p51's flew in and then the hell diver went up. hopefully things will go as planned and they will be here more frequently.

I really wish I could've gone. My wife and I were planning to make the 3 hour drive to see FiFi but I got called into work.

I'm not a photographer by any means but here are a few pics that I snapped with my phone Saturday morning. Planes aren't really my thing but my kid is real into them, especially WWII aircraft. Even though it's not my cup of tea, I found the event very interesting.

Anybody know what time they left and where they are going next??? I'm assuming they departed today because I got a report that some folks on the northshore heard multi radials in the air. I was down in Plaquemines Parish fishing around Lake Hermitage and heard the unmistakable music of radials singing together...I heard this at around 11:40 this morning.

Yes Mr. Foxx... you hit on the head. It changed a while back, maybe 20 years or so back. I used to go and see the facility in Harlingen Texas damn near to Mexico to see the planes and museum they had. Have a pic of me next to the He-111 that crashed a few years ago and also one of the B-24 right when they got it in flying condition again and before the repaint...1981 or 82 IIRC.

And yes, Wings over Houston is this weekend and unfortunately I will not be able to make that one either...It is an awesome show and get pics from my BIL who is over Emergency Response at Ellington Field..He gets some real good up close shots.

    From the CAF website....

"The organization was originally known as the Confederate Air Force. Following a membership vote in 2001 and made effective on January 1, 2002, the organization is now known as the Commemorative Air Force."

So, 12 years ago it changed....my bad.:(
