I am torn between getting a saiga 223 or a sar 3. I have heard some less than ideal things about the arsenal in 223, plus either option is almost half the cost.

I have almost zero gun-smithing experience, so I do not know if I trust myself to do the conversion solo, haha.

I have heard great things about sar 3's. One of the most accurate ak's, and little to no problems.

    What say you?

Keep your AR, and if you want to move to the AK platform get a 7.62X39 or 5.45. If you must have .223 I would go with a Saiga and convert it after you saved up some money for the conversion. Don't just consider the cost of the rifle, consider the cost and availability of ammo and mags. It is ok to take baby steps in building your arsenal.
