I'm curious as to the availability of ammo around the state these days. The availability of firearms has definitely gone back up, Shooters seems to keep AR's on the shelves longer than a weekend these days. The last few times I've gone into Academy or Shooters, I've been able to find at least a few boxes of one caliber I need, mostly 9mm. I still can't find .40 to save my life. What's it like elsewhere?

I was on the hunt today at my local Wal-Mart (about the only place I really look. I found Federal 45 Auto FMJ in 50 round packs for 14.97. They had some 357 Sig and some 7.62x39.

There was no 9mm or 223 that I saw. I picked up some of the 45 even though I've been shooting much more of that pansy ass 9mm.

were keeping most all calibers in stock, we get shipments in 5 days a week though. Only thing that sells out usally in short time is the .380 still. People purchasing that are buying it in 500+ rd quantities.

I was in Hammond WalMart earlier today and they had several boxes (50 rds) of Blazer Brass 40 cal. Also some 9mm and 45 cal. Had some Winchester white box 357 sig. From the empty shelves it use to always have, it seems to slowly coming back in stock. Had plenty of the hunting rifle calibers in stock.

We were at the Zachary Wal-Mart and they had at least a dozen 100 rd value packs of WWB 9mm. Also there was AT LEAST 20 boxes of Federal 223 100 round value packs. I also saw a bunch of WWB 45 and a few WWB 357 sig. Also had some Remy 30-06 and 30-30. Thats the most I have seen in a long time. I felt obligated to get some 9mm in order to free up alittle shelf space.

I was in the new Walmart in Metairie today. They had some .357 mag, .44 mag, a box of .357 sig, some shotgun shells and a bit of .22. They a few odd boxes of hunting rifle rounds. There were two boxes of .223 hunting rounds on the shelf at 19.95 each (I'm not THAT desperate!). No 7.62 x 39 at all.
They were out of all the usual pistol rounds. Walmart last week was the same or worse.

Cabelas had, yesterday, lots of PMC 40 and 223, several magtech 250 rd packs of 45. Plenty 357 and 44 mag. Even lots of 50rd magtech 9mm. Prices not great but fair enough.

One seller told me he took 11,000 rounds of 9mm to the Kenner show and it sold out in 15 minutes.

I found a couple of boxes of .380 at Natal's fishing tackle shop on hwy 51 in Laplace. Not cheap but good self defense ammo. Don't remeber off hand which, I'll try to update later.

it's Roussel's in Laplace not Natal's. Hadn't been Natal's in 8 years or so. not trying to be a s/a just a correction.

Dave's gun shop has plenty .40 ammo. They also have everything else. I've found plenty .223, 9mm WWB, and others around town. Looks to me like people have what they feel comfortable with and don't need to keep buying it up. Its us who are causing the "shortage". If we weren't going out buying hundreds of rounds all of a sudden, there would still be pelnty on shelves and the price wouldn't be out the roof!
