So, walking to and from your car, you'll have a police escort? No offense to any LEO members, but I hope this just applies to those who decide to do dumb stuff.

Remember, brothers and sisters concealed is concealed. Don't let this deter you from protecting yourself. The law states.

    N. No concealed handgun may be carried into and no concealed handgun permit issued pursuant to this Section shall authorize or entitle a permittee to carry a concealed handgun in any of the following:

    (1) A law enforcement office, station, or building.

    (2) A detention facility, prison, or jail.

    (3) A courthouse or courtroom, provided that a judge may carry such a weapon in his own courtroom.

    (4) A polling place.

    (5) A municipal building or other public building or structure, only if the building or structure is utilized as the meeting place of the governing authority of a political subdivision.

    (6) The state capitol building.

    (7) Any portion of an airport facility where the carrying of firearms is prohibited under federal law, except that no person shall be prohibited from carrying any legal firearm into the terminal, if the firearm is encased for shipment, for the purpose of checking such firearm as lawful baggage.

    (8) Any church, synagogue, mosque, or other similar place of worship, eligible for qualification as a tax-exempt organization under 26 U.S.C. 501, unless authorized by the person who has authority over the administration of the church, synagogue, mosque, or other similar place of worship.

    (9) A parade or demonstration for which a permit is issued by a governmental entity.

    (10) Any portion of the permitted area of an establishment that has been granted a Class A-General retail permit, as defined in Part II of Chapter 1 or Part II of Chapter 2 of Title 26 of the Louisiana Revised Statutes of 1950, to sell alcoholic beverages for consumption on the premises.

    (11) Any school, school campus, or school bus as defined in R.S. 14:95.6.

    O. The provisions of Subsection N of this Section shall not limit the right of a property owner, lessee, or other lawful custodian to prohibit or restrict access of those persons possessing a concealed handgun pursuant to a permit issued under this Section. No individual to whom a concealed handgun permit is issued may carry such concealed handgun into the private residence of another without first receiving the consent of that person."

I'm not a lawyer, but I'd rather be judged by 12 than carried by 6.

Concealed = concealed until you are in jail and lose your job for getting arrested for illegal carrying of a firearm.

Subsection nine, above, disallows carrying at a parade. People will debate over the "in" vs "at", but the easiest option is to just not go to parades, especially in New Orleans.

A few years ago I got talked into being a parade marshal/security for Orpheous. Did it two years in a row and it was a good time in the ball, but the parade itself was nerve wracking and exhausting. At the end of the parade we're allowed to join the party in the convention center and it is LOADED with cops in the ball and out front. This year, I'm attending the ball as a reveler for that very reason and there is a hotel literally within sight of the event so I may have found the perfect way for my paranoid ass to enjoy a Mardis Gras parade because the floats drive into the convention center lol

I live around the Lakefront now and fortunately off any parade route. I won't make any parades because I've been to enough of them.
The NOPD I know who are still on the job are only arresting people who are causing trouble or simply being stupid. The perps being arrested are generally felons with extensive records. They are not actually looking to harass lawful citizens who are not causing trouble.
A SGT I know lost sleep and slept on my couch because he was too tired to drive home after catching a felon with a 94(Smith SV with modified 33 round mag sticking out his pants.). When he saw the mag, he grabbed the perp and cuffed him against a wall.

As an adult, I don't find parades to be much fun as an observer. Riding in the parade is an entirely different animal, though!

We went to the Endymion Extravaganza a few years ago and had an awesome time! The parade coming through was cool and all, but we watched from the upper level as we were just inhaling alcohol. Definitely would go back there!

Is this the same New Orleans that let people illegally carrying walk free, with zero charges, last year? Including one that had a Glock switch?

    Asking for a friend
The perp was rearrested and charged after "amateur hour" at the DA Office was ended.

I just read your link. Are they implying the French Quarter is now some giant gun free zone? I can see a new Harley Davidson in someone's future.

Looks like he was charged by the Feds, I don't see anything about any charges in N.O. And I've never seen anything about the remaining 14 people being charged by anyone.

It's not uncommon for the DA and the Feds to work together. The DA may drop charges and the Feds will charge someone. It's also not uncommen for the Feds to step in if a DA won't pursue charges.

Agreed, this was a case of the DA being a POS and releasing at least 15 people illegally carrying guns with no charges.

If the mayor, and city leaders, are going to release a statement about leaving your guns at home, and think of the children, maybe they'd get behind actually prosecuting criminals.

I will not go to the WW2 museum, again, either. Went there last year, for the 3rd time, and I walked in with a group of people, one of whom was in a wheelchair. I had walked up the stairs and was in the merchant marine section, about 200 feet, before the security guards tracked me down, asked me to walk back with them to the security desk and started asking if I had a weapon, even though there are no signs restricting firearms.

I don't answer questions. I don't consent to a search. Am I being detained? Bye.

They need to go across the street and pay attention to some of their own exhibits.

Mardi Gras is literally pure trash, it's not religious or genuinely cultural anymore, and it's people celebrating garbage being thrown in the streets & waterways.

An article came out last year, Microplastics have been found in the human bloodstream and heart tissue.

This year an article came out, Microplastics found in all American store bought protein. Another said that Microplastics are commonly found in some bottled water.

Mardi Gras has turned into a Chinese Economy Boosting Pollutionfest that is part of a problem that might literally destroy American Health and Ecosystems, and it's ultimately benefitting one of the nations that may turn us into dust in the almost-certainly coming war of Ruling Classes.

If they aren't dropping a chicken for your kids to catch it's not cultural mardi gras, it's just a hedonism/lust festival. Throwing/catching/drinking poison and watching tourists flash their privates should never be allowed to be disguised as either culturally important or beneficial.

Go to Mamou, while it's still a family place.

People will ruin it just like everything else, but for now it should still be gtg.

It was actually an ADA who was later shown the door.
