There are a few Jeep clubs in Louisiana. A couple are relatively close to you.

There's one that meets in Hammond, Geaux Awol. http://www.geaux-awol.com/

There's another one that meets in New Orleans, NOLA 4x4. http://www.nola4x4.com/

There's another group that meets in Prairieville, Louisiana 4x4. http://www.la4x4.org
LA 4x4 usually has monthly rides at various trails, frequently right outside of Greensburg and St Francisville. The info on those rides are usually passed to the other groups and they frequently convoy to the rides.

You can do a Facebook search for the groups as well.

I like the more mature jeeps. 1963 CJ5 Mark III, Tuxedo Park edition. It was the last of the jeeps made by Willys. They were trying to market the jeeps to a more upscale crowd and came out with the tux. It's named after a town in New York that was inhabited by the upper crust of society. The color was called Indian Ceramic. The upholstery and steering wheel matched the jeep exterior color. It has the original 75 hp engine. It also had chrome accents and custom chrome bumpers, front and rear. The jeep is completely intact except for the rear bumper. It had 27000 miles when I bought it and I put another 1000 on it as I try to drive it weekly. If you know anything about Willys Jeeps they are just tractors in disguise. They have a top speed of 50-60, ride rough as hell, but man the cool factor is off the charts. Hopefully next year I'll do the restoration on it depending on if money magically falls from the sky. Who knows stranger things have happened.

    Absolutely beautiful.

You may consider leaving her as is. "Preservation class" vehicles are drawing premiums now, and I think she looks great in her original work clothes.

My olé lady drives a 2014 Grand Cherokee 4x4 with the HEMI. My toy is a 79 CJ7 that I bought when I lived in Las Vegas. It's not restored, but not rotted out. It has that "desert patina" look, but is actually in great condition. It has a straight 6, with a T18 and Dana 20, at the moment, but soon to be replaced with an AMC 304 V8. I LOVE JEEPS!

1984 CJ7 got it as my first car and will never get rid of her.
    4" super lift
    3" body
    12"x33" TSL super swampers
Only has a straight 4 under the hood but is perfect of the mud being so light.

My first and only was a brand new 2016 JK unlimited rubicon... it's so nice I can't bring myself to do "Jeep" type off-road activities. It mostly get driven by the wife around town.
