So I used to shoot a small "youth" compound bow when I was a child, I shot a recurve and my dads compound when I was a teen, and I liked it.

However, now I have problems with my shoulder and dont even want to try to shoot one of these new fancy bows. I would like to extend my hunting season, so Ive been thinking about getting a crossbow.

From what Ive seen Im going to need spend $300+ to get into a decent crossbow. Is this correct?

Ive never fired a crossbow or even got to fondle one.

How many FPS do I need? How do traditional arrows compare to the bolts the crossbow shoots? What brands have to better rep?

Any body here know a little more that can clue me in?

Go by Bass Pro or Cabela's and look at what you are looking to spend and shoot them as they will let you shoot whatever you want...Well atleast at bass pro they will not sure about cabela's........Bass Pro has alot of crossbows.

Well the way I looked at it was most are shouldered and fired like a rifle, and Im sure some are more comfortable than others.

I would like to have a chance to fire one before I buy it. looks like Ill have to take a trip out to bass pro.
