Not long ago I purchased a Doublestar M4 on a whim. Seemed like a pretty solid rifle, made in the USA, figured I'd roll the dice on it. So far I've been very please with this rifle, haven't had the first problem with it (knock on wood.). Got a lot of crap from my shooting buddies for not buying a 'Big Name' AR, but when the dust settled at the range my "no name" outperformed 2 Bushmasters and a RRA AR. I should say that I just had less problems than they did. I went home and did a little research and it seems that Doublestar was a parts contractor for Colt. It said that they used to make the Colt lowers. Can anyone confirm or deny this? Seems like very good quality build and parts. If nothing else I am very pleased with a no name AR and would definitely buy from them again. Just wondering if anyone else has any knowledge or experiences with this brand?

I had experience with them. I bought a Doublestar with a 16 inch hbar fluted barrel. No problems whatsoever. . A couple things that I noticed the more expensive brands splurged on that the Doublestar lacked: no chrome lined barrel ($50 upgrade), no m4 feed ramps, the bcg was a semi not an m16 full auto, the front sight base was attached with straight pins instead of tapered ones, had a 1x9 rifling, and had a commercial buffer tube and stock. None of these detracted from good fun at the range. It was always reliable and had a lighter trigger pull than other stock ar15's that I had the pleasure of shooting. The barrel profile felt better than an m4 in that it felt balanced and not front heavy. So, I believe Doublestar's are a great value, good quality, and perform excellent if you keep in mind their limitations. I also have a Spike's Tactical. To an average shooter like myself, they both perform the same. The Spike's has more features but has no discernible performance advantage over the Doublestar at the range. Overall, I would buy again confident in their product, if the price is right of course.
