level the tip with 1000 grit, rough the last 1/2 inch 360 degrees. Rod tip repair kit academy comes with glue and the tips, pick closest fit glue, align done. Changes action a bit but still works.

I've built a few rods. It's an easy fix.
If it's a cheap rod, a rod repair kit is more than good enough. If it's a good rod and one you want to keep for years to come, it would be much better to order the right parts from MudHole http://www.mudhole.com/
A good sporting good store will have the tips as well. The one in Morgan City does, don't know any in Mandeville
De-oil the rod tip and epoxy or JB Weld the tip on.
