I dont know anything either BUT he HAS been there since beginning of time. That has to stand for something. I drove buy on friday and there was at least 3 cars by the lil sideshop. I would be willing to bet my next paycheck that hes worth at least a call.
I tried to use him for a project a couple years ago and I called and called for weeks. When I finally got someone to answer she said he was off shore. I left a number but never got a call back, never tried him again.
I pass that sign everyday..twice. My dad tried to use him after Katrina but he was so busy he wouldnt take any more work. I am going to give him a try, I will report back.
Sometimes he is hard to catch in the shop, but I have met him and had some old rifles checked (headspaced and all) by him, bought some ammo from him. Seems like a good enough guy. Haven't been there since pre-katrina though.
Lots of guys at the PD here in Slidell use Bill Berthelot, I don't think he's business listed, just go for that name in the phone book, address on Hoover Dr.
I used him once to drill and tap a rear sight on a .22 I have. Nice enough and not too expensive. Had/has a dog big enough to ride behind the counter, great protection.
Thought I would report back with my experience. I had them fix my marlin and mark 1 ruger, prices were fair and the work was done quickly. I have not fired the ruger yet because apparently the ranges are full with people and their christmas presents but I was told it was test fired and trust them. I would definatly use them again.
