Picked one up from Ferrara yesterday. Haven't shot it yet, but dry firing a couple of times, it seemed a little on the heavy side just before it breaks. Does it lighten up considerably with use? Have others been using trigger kits or just having a smith work on it?

Mine was a little heavy and rough when I bought it. After 500 rounds it smoothed out and I do not really notice if it is heavy now.
I say shoot a few hundred rounds at least through it before dropping more money into it.
    YMMV

i've always been wary about doing any cosmetic or internal work to a carry gun, for blood-sucking-lawyer reasons. i don't want to give those guys any more reason to suck me dry (financially). also, i worry about the reliability aftermarket kits offer. with that being said, if i were to buy anything for the shield, i'd get the APEX duty carry kit.
