Like the title says. Has anyone tried the Brown Bear "match grade" ammo made by Barnaul? I have an old Mosin 7.62x54r and it seems like a good deal. About $11 for 20 rounds. I might pick up a few boxes. Has anyone put this up against mil-surp ammo? Any place locally, N.O. area, selling 7.62x54r?

I've used the Brown Bear Match in several different Mosins. It's good ammo, a bit more accurate than the light ball surplus. The bullet placement is a little different because the bullets a heavier. The plus side with Brown Bear is that the primer's don't form the corrosive salts that surplus does after firing. My 2 cents.

I cant say much for the Match Grade. But I do know that my '28 hex 91/30 does not like 203gr SP. i myself am partial to Privi 150gr

I was wondering if the brown bear match was any better because it is cheap, and it barely cost more than the regular stuff. I'll give it a "shot." Thanks!

+1 on the PP. and the Norma soft tips throw tight groups in mine as well.
I also saw a thread about brown bear match .22 here somewhere and the member's groups looked impressive out of a few brands. The most accurate .22 ammo I've shot from my Ruger Bolt rifle was PMC target. Very consistent.
