I am wondering about the quality and feasibility of having a AR9 in pistol configuration for a fun gun to keep me away from shooting my .223 Rifles. They look good, use glock mags and shoot cheaper (was ) 9mm ammo. I am thinking of putting a 2 MOA red dot on it also. Anyone have one and can tell me about them?

The only issue you will have with ar9 is its blow back so you need to insure the buffer and spring are heavy. Or you will bend your release catch.

If you can find one, the best option on the market is the CMMG Radial Delayed Blowback system. The complete Banshee pistols and uppers are a bit pricey, but you can track down a bolt/barrel combo for about $400 -- they come in 5", 8" or 16" -- and it'll run with a standard upper receiver/handguard/CH and pistol lower with a regular buffer system. You don't need to dick around with all the extra heavy buffers and springs with the RDB system like you do with a regular blowback PCC.

If you stick it on a regular AR lower, they make pmag conversions, so you can use regular pmag bodies for 9mm rounds.

I've got both an 8" and a 16" and they both purr like angry little kittens.

I got a foxtrot mile 9mm upper from aimsurplus. Havent shot it yet, but its a forward charging handle thats out by the end of the forearm.

Will attempt to use endomags so I can use an existing lower.

I was looking a the F/M ones too. I'm wanting an inexpensive fun gun so I'm not looking at the expensive versions. I like the 7 inch barrel pistol versions. I'll be waiting on a range report. Thanks
