    Apparent robber wounded by passerby

Kenneth Turner, 21, and two other men apparently were attempting to rob a teenager at gunpoint Wednesday night in eastern New Orleans when a "passerby" intervened, according to police reports.

And Turner -- not the intended 19-year-old robbery victim -- ended up being transported to a local hospital.

"A passerby saw what was happening and began firing at the perps, " according to the offense log.

Turner was hit twice in "the rear back area, " the log says.

"He lost one of his kidneys, " police said, and may be "paralyzed" in some fashion.

Once he's ready to leave the hospital, Turner will be arrested, according to the log.

Police said the drama began at Tulip and Prentiss streets shortly before 10 p.m. Wednesday when three men approached the 19-year-old man and "demanded his property."

Whether the passerby will face charges, the status of the other two suspects and other details about the robbery and shooting were not available Thursday.

if he is arrested while IN the hospital he has to be taken to parish and booked. hes being watched. just not arrested.

    legalities is all.

im glad NOPD is taking up for the passerby. UNLIKE CHIEF LEDUFF. who neither backed his officer or the man that intervened and saved Cpl Harrison's life at the autozone in 2006.
