My dog got bit by a baby copperhead last night, so be advised that it seems that the new crop is hatched and active.

Dog has a swollen face but is doing well.

Is it true that it's usually more dangerous to get bit by a baby, since they can't control the amount of venom? May be bull ****, I wouldn't know..

    Hope dog makes good recovery.

Best wishes on your dogs recovery!

My neigbors Yorkie was bitten by a baby and recovered. I always heard an adult packs more venom, which probably would have been fatal on a dog under 5 pounds.

So, the reason baby snakes are more dangerous is they cannot or do not control the amount of venom released, The adults know that its terribly difficult and a long process to produce it often taking energy and nutrients they would rather put towards other processes.. So yes, you heard correct..
To the OP, benadryl may help keep the dog calm, and help with the reactions that are allergic in nature..

Hope your pooch gets over it soon.

I've got a new crop of 12 gauge reloads. I killed several copperheads last year, only one so far this year.

The dog has a swollen face and neck, got bit on the nose, I willl try benadryl...thanks. Also, I plan on installing chicken coop version 1.0 in the very near future so I will keep in mind that they are tough on snakes.
The dog is a German shorthair and is doing well besides acting tired. Thanks to all.
