Hello all, I was speaking with a bartender friend of mine recently and he informed me that a new law had passed in louisiana that will allow bartenders/owners to carry weapons while working as long as they do not drink. I can't seem to find anything in the local news about this or on this forum, and was just wondering if this is in fact true.

There are some LE officers who will tell you that the above mentioned law is not true. However, this has been the case for as long as I remember. A permit is not needed in this case.

As far as I know there's no new law and if it was it wouldn't be in effect today.
Maybe he he just thinks he knows of a "new" law.

Maybe somebody can post it if it's real

That's what I was thinking also, too, as well.

"C. The provisions of this Section shall not apply to the owner or lessee of an alcoholic beverage outlet, or to an employee of such owner or lessee..."

Correct. This is not a difficult law to know and understand.

What about waitresses in a restaurant that support open carry:

Thanks I knew saw that law but assumed it was ok. I know never assume.
Back in the late 80's to mid 90's I worked at a bar/ restaurant.
We were told by the owner and manager that it was ok since it was his private property.
Yes we all know that Bars have lots of funds at the end of the night. But It is a bad deal if someone gets drunk and comes back after closing while ya cleaning up.

More often than not, it was bartenders and servers being robbed on the way to their vehicles at the end of the night.
