Bayou Shooter group camp. Estimating interest...

I was thinking the other day and talking to a few of my friends that are on this board, and thought about us trying to get a group camp. I was thinking we could do it in late September/ early November. I am not much for camping at campgrounds like Tickfaw or whatever, but if I recall correctly you can camp at Sherburne/ Honey Island (anyone wanna validate that?). I think it would be a lot of fun, most everyone I have met on here has been very nice people and there are some people on the board that I'd like to meet. Get us a fire going and BS with BS all night lol. So basically, would anyone be interested in doing this?

IIRC this was discussed when I first became a member. Again if I'm correct, the personal land thing was determined to be a bad, bad idea due to liability concerns. If a group of friends wanted to get together and shoot, that's awesome. With 60+ acres and forested area beyond our backstop, we personally have done so on multiple occasions. And there are people on this board I wouldn't think twice allowing to shoot on my property. But a board wide invitational on private land would be a very poor decision.

Then you have the issues with alcohol, no alcohol. How are you going to monitor that? What happens if a familiar board name turns into a very unsafe shooter?

IOW: super idea among friends but keep it in PMs and only those you trust.

I agree that some people can "go off the deep end" and there could be problems, hell, just go drive around.

I'm on orders for next 2 months and when things are suposed to slow down they keep getting crazier. I'd love to go camping and like the idea but no lie I'm going like a mad man lately.

Oct 1 deer season opens on Sherburne as well as MOST other WMA's in southern and easten La......just something to consider......

Well now that firearms are out, I'd imagine that campgrounds like tickfaw state park are back in the equation. That area is a good middle ground for new Orleans and baton rouge are as well, I'm wide open to suggestions and would like some help with locations so feel free to chime on guys
