Bay boats? They'll open up a whole new world for you. I just bought a 24' (used 90' model). Last trip out yielded a 120qt ice chest full of reds, drum and specs. I love bass fishing, but the Rigolets, lake borgne and surrounding saltwater marsh offer a ton of fun. The bay boat makes that fishing (safely and comfortably) possible.
Hey, where do you guys fish at?? I usually go out of Myrtle Grove but would like to know about the Rigolets and the lakes more. My little bro told me yesterday that the specs are already moving back into the marshes for the winter...Unfortunately I'm gonna be out of town for a week and a half and REALLY want to get out there..I've got a 17.5 McKee Craft CC (1993 Offshore Fisherman) and love it for the marsh and bay action till the waves get a little rough.which means anything over 2 feet is going to beat me to death!!
We went to Weeks Bay south of New Iberia 2 weeks ago and only caught three Specs. I think we may go south of Houma to Lake Mechant. BTW I do not own a boat. I go with a friend from work.
Lake Merchant, is that the same as Sister Lake?? Ive gone out of Montagut in the winter time to some deep holes where the specs stack up but want to learn that area around Dulac/Dularge...sounds like ya'll always have fish out that way. Where do ya'll launch from??
