Hunting in Arkansas on a beautiful morning I heard this deer fighting with another buck rattling antlers and snorting like crazy. That same day late in the afternoon he was taken with the rifle above.
This was at the end of the rut and he weighed in at 190 lbs. He was probably a good 220+ a few weeks earlier. He was a nine point with three tines broken from fighting, had a gash in the neck from fighting that morning, had what appeared to be a slice in the underside of his chest(I'm told someone shot at him with a bow and barely missed)and when skinning him five 00 buck shot pellets fell to the floor of the skinning shed. I took him with this .243. Don't underestimate the caliber.
