I am thinking of getting a bullpup style rifle, such as the Microtech Small Arms series. Any pros or cons? What would be a good one to look at? Thanks.

FN makes some bull pups, the PS90, and the FS200. I have a lot of experience with the ps90, great gun, light, accurate, bout the same recoil as a 22, easy to clean, and high mag capacity (50). The only downside is the cost of ammo, but the interesting thing is that the 5.7 round is staying the same price wile everything is skyrocketing. As far as the FS200, I had a friend who bought one, got a really good look at what it would take to clean it every time he shot it, and sold it without ever chambering a round.

I would love to have a PS90. . . but when you factor in $400/case for underpowered wussy ammo and the $200 and hassle for getting it chopped down it's not worth it (to me at least).

That microtech aug looks pretty sweet though.

I just cant get into the bullpup style... I've heard too many stories of ammo failure, case seperation, etc. to want the explosion that close to my head.

There are two Aug clones on the market, the MSAR and the TDP. The MSAR is not a true AUG clone, in that a lot of Aug accessories will not work with it, even though it takes Aug mags. The TDP, on the other hand takes Aug accessories, but uses AR mags. :eh: Both of them are around $2k, which is considerably cheaper than a real Steyr Aug. Then, of course, there's the upcomming Kel-Tec RFB, which is kinda like a bullpup with a Hemi stuffed into it. :D

On the cheap, there is always the K-VAR bullpup conversion for AKs, but the ergos suck, the trigger sucks, and you're as likely as not to get hit in the face by ejecting brass. Finally, there's the Bushmaster M17S, which you can find for around $800 all over the place (CDNN has a limited number of them).

I have a PS90 and love it so far. I picked it up at Jim's just after Katrina.....a little hurricane/home defense weapon. ;) I get strange looks from the cops in my unit when we go to the range for some shooting...they bring their ARs and make fun of the 'little' gun. I can practically run at the steel targets and hit every round faster than they can.

It's personal preference though. I'll be getting a new AR soon though.
