I mailed off for it on 8/8. Came in either yesterday or Saturday, not sure since I didn't check the mail Saturday. That puts it at 7 weeks.

    3 cheers for Florida!

Fonk Florida. I messed up and mailed the wrong copy of my finger print card and they rejected me. Oh well, there goes another $117.00

you also don't have to take a class... assuming that you took a hunters safety course or something similar as a kid.

I paid $60 for the class, sent in my info and got my LA CCW permit back in a just shy of 4 weeks, and that is including Labor Day. I must say they are pretty much on the ball at LSP concerning this.

They consider the Hunter's Safety permit an acceptable form of training.

Other than that, fill out the paperwork, fingerprint card, passport photo and your training.

Yep! That's it. I actually had some spares but I threw them out a few days ago. I ordered 3 in case I screwed up on 2 of them. :o

Why are you guys getting Florida CHLs? Because of reciprocity with more states than Louisiana?

When I applied for my Florida CWFL (Concealed Weapon or Firearm License), Louisiana only had reciprocity with 5 or 6 other states. Arkansas was one that was not on the list. From what I understand, La now has improved their reciprocity agreements list tremendoulsy. I also liked the fact that the license is good for five years instead of four, and renewal costs were less(I think).

Hopefully, in the near future, all CCW permits will be recognized nation-wide.

    :x:
