Just watched a great Fox News piece on children and gun safety. My approach when my kids were young: Guns always locked in a safe when kids were roaming the house. I always went over gun safety with my kids' closest friends including how to safety check a variety of firearms. I also insisted that, if they find a gun in the house, they should leave immediately and tell their parents. I always discussed with each parent what safety precautions I took and that I would go over gun safety with their child. All the parents I spoke with thanked me.
