Very few women dress in a way conducive to wearing holsters and none of them will carry a purse they don't like. As much as I hate off-body carry (even though I keep a pistol in my camera bag) the best compromise is going to be a "purse holster" rather than a "holster purse".I am currently working with a holster company to create a "snap" attachment that can be mounted to the inside of the purse to the area where the zipper is located, I am scheduled to get the "test" model within a week and one of my more advanced students will be the guinea pig.
IF it works I will invite you over so you can check it out and see if its something she would be interested in, the idea is that you can use the same holster inside the purse and then change the attachment to use it on a paddle or belt mount to be used at the range.
we shall see, time will tell.
But to answer you can mount a holster, the problem is the weight tends to put the gun in a very awkward and not optimal position which does not allow to draw fast enough, she could always just get like a "glove" (remora type holster) but then there is no retention and the gun would still stay in the purse like a loose sock.
??
In the meantime, if she insists on a purse carry... it needs to be in a holster of some sort. A safety can get jumbled around and set to off just like a trigger can be pulled by stuff in the purse.
Personally, I think purse carry is a horrible idea. One of the most common attacks on women is for their purse and what's inside it. If a BG runs up and grabs her purse, he just ran off with her gun as well.
