I think the same laws apply to permit holders as well as those that don't have the permit.
I hope that you are correct, but that is a devil in the details that remains to be seen. It would be easy for them to declare CC legal but not change the "proximity" rules and still claim victory.

Maybe not ideal but any baby step towards constitutional carry is a victory… cannot win the war in a day, it’s about the battles… we prob wouldn't be here right now if we wouldn’t have won a few smaller battles with gun rights and constitutional carry in Louisiana…

IIRC (and often I do not) the "1000' from a school zone" was changed to "into school grounds" a while back. Still understand your point though.
that is correct... there is also exceptions to having it in your vehicle on school property, the days of being scared of driving though a school zone with your hunting rifle or a pistol have been long gone :dogkeke:

    ...

Look closely at those that oppose it here; you'll find a "D" or a democrat bent associated with them somewhere; even if they call themselves republicans to get elected.

... or stand to profit from the mandatory permit system. And let's not forget LEO groups leadership. Look at the history of opposition to Constitutional Carry in Louisiana and you will find the LEO organizations historically fought it year after year.

Can someone? Anyone? Please tell me what the "real" reason is that only black democrats and 1 white democrat douche, is against this? No one EVER explains on the record what the real reason is for opposing this. Their arguments are always unfounded, but there they are.

They say it will only put more guns on the streets! But criminals already have guns, and law abiding citizens are of all races and ethnicity's. Are they assuming that law abiding blacks here in Louisiana are too stupid to defend themselves?
They say it will make people less safe! Who? Criminals shot by law abiding citizens during the commission of a crime on the law abiding citizen?

They say it will endanger police more! Don't police assume that every stop of a citizen is potentially dangerous already?

Remember, democrats believe whatever the democrat party tells them to believe. This is not about safety! It NEVER is! Their opposition to anything that affords more liberty to an American citizen is an affront to their power. This is about their power over their constituents and the desire to have total control of the citizenry without fear of reprisal. Their unfettered allegiance to the whims and will of the democrat party are always about keeping their power and favoritism within the democrat cabal!

    So sad!

What are the timelines for next steps?
It was approved and moved out of the Senate revenue and fiscal committee this morning. I believe it moves to a House committee next. That should be before the weekend. Then it will go to the House floor. If they don't amend it (f**k it up), it goes to Landry.

It may have one more committee in between there somewhere, but it is sailing along. This Session has to be wrapped up by March 6.

Everything is looking good for the law to pass. Should be in effect April 19, 2024.

    Nothing more to see here.

Glad we have a God fearing, law and order American patriot as our Governor now!

One step closer to getting our state back on the path of honesty, integrity, and prosperity for all hard-working, law-abiding citizens of Louisiana!

Probably because they don't like Miguez. He comes across like a very pro 2nd fundamentalist. Barrow tried to add an amendment to restore gun rights to felons, thinking that would **** him off. Miguez said it was a great idea and he'd love to work with her to author a new bill to introduce that. :D

Because they suck Soros/Bloomturd/DNC you know what, and they are getting paid to do it.
Black people would benefit just as much as anyone if not more when this passes.
Black leadership sells their souls to Ben Franklin and for a seat at the table at the expense of the people they represent.

that is correct... there is also exceptions to having it in your vehicle on school property, the days of being scared of driving though a school zone with your hunting rifle or a pistol have been long gone :dogkeke:

Just to be clear, this exception is for CCP holders only, it does not apply to constitutional carry. You are still prohibited from carrying within 1000 feet of a school or in an establishment that sells alcohol for consumption unless you have a permit.

    To be even clearer:
Louisiana doesn't have a CCP, it has a CHP.
The CHP allows you to carry within 1000ft of a school, but not on school property.

Anyone who is legally allowed to possess a firearm (not felons) may keep a firearm within their vehicle on school property.

True, one of the amendments to SB1 was to clear up some of the wording to put it in line with the wording in the CHP legislation. They mentioned it was to distinguish between carrying a knife and a handgun, which I thought was a little odd.
