Just did a speed test 60 Mb/sec down and almost 7 upload. I should be at 100 according to that article. I'm going to go with no.

I got 52.68 mbps download and 6.47 mbps upload.

I'm paying for more than that and my bills went up with Cox last year.

    Jerks.

This is all smoke and mirrors on Cox's part. Their existing infrastructure CANNOT support doubling speed in urban areas. About the best they can do up the cap to double the rate and let customers attain best possible speed (probably early in the morning hours). DOCSIS 3 isn't some magic cure-all that would allow such a bold operation to succeed.

I'd like to think I'm on the "know" on this issue...after all, I was a 6 year commercial customer who basically got the finger from Cox over their increasingly poor bandwidth regulation.

Besides, AT&T offered me a U-Verse deal that smokes Cox's fastest data package (17a...? :dunno::ninja:)

I'm not sure if Cox is still doing the speed boost technology any more. But that boosts the speed of the download to max level for like the first xx amount of data or time then it drops down to about 1/3. It is/was just enough to fool short speed tests and worked great for small to medium down loads.

I don't understand why their upload is so shitty. I wish someone else would move in and run some fiber optic, it's ridiculous what we pay here for what we get.

Sent from my truck doing 85 down the interstate.

I just hardwired my laptop and ran a test 28ms ping 59.75Mbs up 6.80Mbs down

Hardwired into your router or Cox's modem? Not sure what setup you have but some companies offer a built in modem/router all in one and other people put their own router behind the modem. I'm just wondering because I know to get an accurate speed test you will have to plug directly into the modem and then run your test (if you have a router or anything else plugged into the modem you have to unplug it). If you do that and still aren't getting the advertised speeds then I'd call up and complain.
