I won't get into many details but I will say this:
This chunk of property will soon receive "seeding" in the form of male and female rabbits released to live wild, a few pairs at a time.
yea i have had more rabbits and baby rabbits than i have ever seen on my property... i think its a combination of putting a big hurting on the hogs the last 2 years and i think the coyotes are on there moving cycle because i havent seen/heard from them this year... Its crazy how fast the rabbits and squirrels bounce back with no predator's

I've seen similar. I recently "removed" several predatory animals here and almost instantly began seeing small game again, which is why I did so, and in preparation for seeding.

I love that .17 HMR! LOL

I have a pond but really only fish for fun I don't clean and eat but if needed they are there.

I recently restarted the chicken flock after losing all my others to a ******* mink I am still looking to kill. They are just starting laying eggs again so they are smallish but will get bigger.

Going to work on planter boxes this year because by god before I die I will eat Cherokee purple tomatoes from my own damn garden if it kills me.

This guy has a bazillion cool videos, hunting with his mink.

    Good luck on the catch!

I have a pond with panfish and catfish, snakes and turtles. Only animals i see are armadillos, racoon, occasiinal rabbits, and mice. Not sure i want to garden or raise chickens but its a option.
Fruit trees are a good in-between. They produce with barely any maintenance or upkeep, if you get it or if wildlife does...something is eating and is happy for it!

We hunt deer, duck and fish locally(public land).

I know the guy well who raises beef locally, who we get a calf from every year. There is a local hog farmer that I’m lined up with to buy from next spring. A bunch of people around me have chickens for yard eggs but no one is in the business of meat chickens.

We have a small vegetable garden that cost more than we eat out of it.
I do have fruit trees that I’m proud of and adding on to.

We also make cane syrup and I get brown sugar from the sugar mill we haul our crop to. I’d like to get a small rice mill one day.

What the best fruit trees for this area?
Just about any "Low Chill" variety of fruit or nut tree should work in Louisiana.

    Peaches
    Pears
    Mulberry
    Fig
    Elderberry
    Pomegranate
    Loquat
    Persimmon
Citrus (Satsuma, Mandarin, Navel, Kumquat *most hardy*)
Apple (Not if you have Red Cedar, they get each other's STDs)
    Blueberry
    Mayhaw
    Plum

You could very comfortably fit 2 of each of these in less than 1/2 acre.

30+ chickens and blessed to have a lease right behind my house.

Any of you that have chickens , has this heat stopped they from laying……. Mine quit about a month ago. I need my fresh eggs back!
Cut out any corn sources, no breads or treats like that.

Add Oats, Sunflower Seeds, and Calcium & keep a fan in the coop.
