Yesterday I watched one flying over a canal in Metry. When I was a kid you had to travel out of state to see them. Now I see them all of the time.

I see them in Metairie all the time nowadays. Pretty wild. Also see a lot in St. Rose in recent years.

The 2 young eagles in the OP post from Hilton Head died a few weeks ago from what appears to an Avian flu.
They started showing symptoms after eating on a duck and fell out of the nest a couple days later.
Rescuers said they had injuries from the fall and took them in for treatment but they took a turn for the worse. Autopsies showed they died from the flu

Shame cause they were just a few weeks from flying out
