I don't understand this. After reading the introduction paragraphs it appears that you have to basically mask your PC, IP's, all kinds of stuff.

Just what info is out there that we would want to browse?

Anonymity is the key to the deep web. I only searched it a few times to see what was actually there. I saw links to sites with stuff that I would NEVER go to. I don't even want to say it's so bad. It's the unmoderated wild west of the Internet. Browsing is easy. Google TOR, download it, run the browser, google core.onion and strap yourself in. It is truly a strange and bizarre land down there.

I don't see why you would want to use TOR. Unless you actually -buy- anything from the Silk Road... you're doing no wrong. Unless you are looking at child porn, there's no reason to fire up TOR, to stay under the radar.

Plus, TOR network is SLOW as **** and nodes are few and far between.

So far, there's nothing illegal about research, reading, looking at things (except child porn) so uh... why do you think you -need- to fire up TOR to browse some of the stuff listed there?

There are many feeds from around the world that are filtered by ISP's and Search Engines. Some restrictions are based on the country you are browsing from. It's not anonymity as much as it is cloaking your addresses and search engine sources, etc.

That is how countries censor their internet from their people.

You may find it fascinating, but it could also be sobering. Point is, how much uncensored beheadings, beastiality, rape, and other human horrors does a person need to see to understand the world has alot going on?

I would bet you could also find alot of scientific studies that have been censored because the results don't agree with politically correct teachings here.

TOR isn't that bad for regular browsing. I just rather be safe that sorry and use TOR. Who knows when the things I love (one example is firearms) will be considered a crime. Also, if there is ever a time in this country where there is mass social arrest and government censorship, these sites could be the only source of information.

It's just good to know what is out there, and how to get to it if I ever need to.

TOR is definitely a useful tool to have in your toolbox. My next computer purchase, I'm hoping to set up and use as a TOR node, most of the time, though that'll require some upgrade to my ISP package. It's a community effort and you can't -always- be a leech.

That looks like a nice way for someone with average computer literacy to land in some serious hot water.....If any of you give it a whirl- do so with caution.

    Not fer this ole boy.

    2. Precautions
It should be noted that it is impossible to be completely safe here. There are hackers, there are viruses, there are trojans. I've gone through several precautions to help make sure I'm as safe as possibe while browsing.

First of all, I'm using special proxy which uses a system of CGI-Relays in conjunction with a socks program that forces all connections from my computer through the proxy.

In addition i'm running the TOR Anonymizer service, which is required to access .onion domains, which is basically all of the websites we are looking for.

On top of all of this, I am browsing through a random SSL proxy I found on the internet. All of this makes my connection hard to trace and hard to crack.

However, this does not make me completely safe. I have disabled cookies, java, flash, and disabled the cache. I have increased the security on my virus and firewall protection.

Besides that, I have taken a back up of my main hard drive and stored it on an external hard disk which I have disconnected from the computer. I have cleared all of my login passwords and credit card information from autofill browsing histories. I have also unplugged my webcam and my microphone to prevent an intrusion of that sort.

There is a lot more you would probably have to do if you were an actual criminal, but since I dont plan on doing anything that could get me arrested, I'm mostly focused on protecting myself from an attack.

    Yea I'll pass ...

Really? like once you go 'Black'webz you never go back?

What’s with all the “it’s pretty deep” and “Dark Corners” spooky whisper?

Where all grown ass adults here, does one of us have to ask what you’ve supposedly seen that forces you not to be able to talk about it openly?
Or will we just keep getting the “YOU DON’T WANT TO KNOW” gestures? :run:

Seriously compared to some of the **** I've seen on this side of the net, I'm pretty sure there's nothing there worse.

Honestly I dunno what's with the spooky "dont ask dont tell" vibe with the topic.

There is a lot of **** on the net, but I think we all pretty much know, even if we don't seek it out. You can buy drugs, look at naked kids, contain seedy people, hire people to do illegal things, look at men and women stick all manner of objects in all manner of orifices, see all sorts of stuff done to animals, hell, even buy a ticket to a show to have stuff put in you, or have an animal put it in you, or put it in an animal. You can see people who enjoy torture/torturing, you can see foreign and domestic videos of gruesome and violent crimes, all in HD video quality! and more. There's salve trades and all sorts of **** that goes on. Anything that happens in the world anywhere ever any place... probably has a group of people that use the net as a communication device to facilitate it.

But hey. Let's make sure we focus on cracking down on copyright infringements, right?

Of course, things like TOR are less useful to us free people who are free to learn and read and watch anything we want with VERY VERY VERY few exceptions. It's more useful in less free parts of the world and where freedom is either moderated, censored, or blocked.
