Tor and other anonymous systems are important for getting info out of many countries.. Look at all of the termoil going on in the world and consider MANY of the news agencies in that country are state owned or at least state ran.. thus we do not get real info..

Tor has also been used in many cases as a backup to .gov networks..

If you do run tor , just run a node, not a gateway. this will minimize the .govs interest in you.. but please have someone who knows the ins and outs of security test it for u..

Yea, my main reason for wanting to run a node is because.. well.. every country that rebels against oppressors; I hear often how they have to use the tor network to get **** out.

Of course it's also protection in case they make porn illegal.

TOR stuff is just the sewers of the internet. You'll find a lot of things there that fall down from the straight and narrow streets above. However, it's not the other 90% of the internet. There is a lot of content that exists outside of both TOR networks and Google. Think of it as the gas, electricity, and water lines of the net. It's like Disney Underground- keeping everything ticking while out of sight and out of mind. And like Disney, very few people frequent it because it is not designed to be frequented. Unlike a sewer, which clogs up every week with sh!t.

I still have no idea what you guys are talking about. But I'm absolutely intrigued. I'm totally checking this out tonight, using my wife's laptop with condoms on my fingers.

May want to use the spermicidal lubrication.... just in case!

Regarding the topic, since I'm not in a third world country and I have access to the first Amendment, I'll pass on the search for Islamic beheadings, calls for Jihad, how to buy my very own prepubescent guaranteed virginal prostitute, super secret squirrel assassination advertisements and the unicorn porn.

This is just plain weird, but I can't help be curious. Though there is no way I'm clicking on any links in this thread. If I'm gettin this right what ya'll have been saying is, if you want digital privacy use TOR, however TOR will attract the attention of the FEDS. What the hell is private about that?

    I'm a big enough b*tch, I'll say it....

In many threads this week, the OP has mentioned his intention to serve God through schooling, service and so forth. It just seems to me, if it's hidden, there is a very good chance the material is not very Christian. So why surf and encourage others to visit those same websites?

*shrugs* There may not be anything to it and I'm certainly not suggesting internet activity is not very Christian. But if you are pursuing a secondary education, and asking donations for such in pursuit of some day becoming a church leader... This type of activity and condoning of such activity will be questioned.

What else is out there some of yall know about that the rest of us need to know about?
