Good move with the Mac Book Pro.
I use time machine to back up to a 750 GB drive, forgot the make as it acted up and I removed from the case and just have it in back of my raid array, it only function is to backup my iphoto library which is 86GB with apx 17K of photos.

I did picked up a Seagate 2 TB USB 2.0 external for $150.00 at Office Depot. It works fine for rending and storage.

My HV30 has all raw video on tape and when I work a project I make a .mov file and burn it to DVD for additional backup.

You will be surprised at how fast video accumulates.

Next you need a really good tripod. Spend some bucks, hand held video will make you sea sick.

This is a cut from 2 hrs. of video I shot last Friday. My son is the clarinet player with the hat. Watch the complete video it showcases some of the up and coming musical talent in the area. These are High School Kids.

Use HD, Full Screen, and volume up options.
