    Dear Mr. Tillerson:

The Committee on Energy and Commerce is investigating the April 20, 2010 explosion at
the Deepwater Horizon oil drilling rig and its consequences. One issue of particular interest is
the long-term health effects faced by workers who assist in the oil spill response effort.
To assist the Committee in its ongoing investigation, we request that you provide to the
Committee all documents related to health effects experienced by workers involved in the
response to the Exxon Valdez oil spill.
Please produce the requested documents to the Committee by July 14,2010. You may
redact all personal identifying information in the responsive documents. An attachment to this
letter provides additional information on how to respond to the Committee's request. If you have
questions regarding this request, please contact David Leviss of the Committee staff at (202)
    226-2424.
