I'm a big fan of finding items that are a good value. Things don't necessarily have to be expensive to be good value. Quality levels should meet the intended use. If you're only going to hit a nail twice in a year, a Harbor Freight hammer might do the trick, but if you are a carpenter you probably have a better hammer. I've personally found Wera tools to be good value for every day use and more specialized tasks, but I'm in need of some good sets to replace older worn tools that I have.
