So, this kind of qualifies for the survival section, and kinda for the the off-topic section, but as I want more survival skewed replies, I will post it here :) I am thinking about adding some snack food the back of my vehicle just for snacks at work or for whenever I need a quick bite to eat but want something healthier than fast food. Anyone have any suggestions for good items to keep in a car (that can withstand Louisiana conditions in a car)?

So far I am thinking powerbars that won't melt, trail mix type things, and probably beef jerky. Thoughts guys?

Vienna sausages, peanut butter cheddar crackers.

LOADED with preservatives, but it didn't kill our grandparents did it?
Hot vienna sausage just sounds bad haha! I like the cracker idea although I think the filling might melt out of the sides. I don't know about y'all, but the inside of my SUV gets pretty hot during the day!!

I understand Steve's Paleo Kits hold up pretty well. I have never tested them in extreme heat, but I was given some samples and they were pretty good. They have Jerky, Nuts and dried fruit in them. They have an entire line from just Jerkey to entire "Meals"

Also, a good protein powder will store for years, it makes you feel full, and will surely help you survive, just add water.

I keep tuna, granola bars, powerade, and those lil ketchup/mustard/mayo/relish packets on the regular. Granted, I don't stow these things in my car but if I know I will be stranded somewhere for a few hours (like the camp or somewhere else working) I'll just bring it along.

And other lil snacky stuff that I really can't remember.

GORP if you can find a pack that is pre-sealed. I wouldn't do your own mix for car storage.

I usually keep a couple of the 100 calorie bars (granola bars) in my truck.

Poptarts work well also. In the summer they come out just like they're toasted!
