I am doubting that a loose bullet exploding would shoot someone. Bullets in fire tend to pop like firecrackers. It could have been the bullet in the chamber but I don't believe a bullet way in the chamber of a pistol in an oven would get hot enough to explode.

    Mythbusters anyone?

A bullet in the chamber will fire, if it gets to hot ! I was fighting a house fire in Sorrento several years ago, there was a 357mag. in a desk drawer(the fire had not reached the desk yet) but most of the room was engulfed in flames, as me and another fireman was standing at a window of the room next to the room with the gun in it, the gun discharged. The bullet passed through the desk drawer, 2 walls and struck the fireman next to me in the neck, the bullet lodged in his throat 1cm from his jugler vain. We rushed him to the ER, after surgery they removed a semi-wad cutter from his throat.(He survived)
