Wow. Very eye opening. I already paid for everything, so I am still going to go, ..........

If you happen to pre-pay a voyage on the Titanic, would you still go on the cruise ?

I'd be seeking a refund - partial or full. Incompetent training is incompetent training, irrespective of some so-called "sweet" gun deal.

And no, I haven't been there. Try Pangris.

    bump. Anyone been?

    Nope.

WOA, if you practice on the zip line, make sure the bottom is cleared & you have some kick ass leather gloves on. If you are in the rooms for didactic training, sit next to the window...if no window, sit next to the door & run multiple egress routes to various exits prior to starting the classroom section, practice rapid, prone exit also. Nevermind the heckling or stares when performing these drills.

Other than that, it should be fun! Just don't try and disassemble anyone's pistol while you're out there. ;):D

well worst case scenerio, I get to go fire for a week. I have been through enough training to tell the Hero's from the zero's. Most of those posts seem old. I spoke with a member here who has been. He said besides the sales speech, the training is good to go. I am not going to get ninja training, just a trip to vegas and some shooting. Spend 1200 on a gun and week of shooting or let my wife blow 1200 at the casino. I figured I made the better choice.

I will try to post a daily aar while I am there to let you guys know if they probe my anus or try to sell me a time share .

They have lifetime memberships where you can go to any class as many times as you want for life, so I am sure they will be trying to sell those. However, the guy I talked to on here went recently, and he said it was good to go. i think it will work well for my wife. She needs the coddling and warm fuzzies. After she sweats through this for five days, she probably won't want to tag along when I go to blackwater or gunsite.

We are newly married, so she is still thinking we have to do everything togather. But i am glad she is soming get some training.

hear ya. Mine is a prima donna and i do not want to turn her off by having someone yelling at her or making her do one-handed handstead .3 sec two shot drills to the pelvic cavity for six hours. I am lucky she even agreeed to go. LOL.

AAR's from people who have a frame of reference are usually far more valuable than those published by newbies.

That said, a class with 340 students is not something in which I would invest time or money.

don't worry, I have plenty frame of reference. The way I understand it, they have many ranges, and thereer are only 20 or so students in each group.

Yeah... there's, what, six total ranges?

That puppy cost 10 million bucks; and that's just the admin building, classrooms in the back, and the ranges. The driving track, its admin support, the inmate barracks, the shoot houses... all that is extra.

    .

Forget the shooting ranges, tell me again about the driving track? How much do you want for a tour of the facility, done from the comfort of an air conditioned car, at max tire slip angle?

    Go here.

Get on DLBRACING.com and sign up for the autocross at the EVOC center on December 7th, which is being hosted by the CenLa region of SCCA. You will get to drive on the skid pad and see the facilities. Chris Carver used to have lapping days every once and awhile on the road course, but it was only for experienced drivers and I don't think he hosts them anymore. I "think" the Mardi Gras Region of the Porsche Club of America has lapping days there now as well.

I went to the basic 4 day and advanced 2 day pistol courses 8-10 years ago while I was in the Border Patrol.
Standard Weaver stuff with speed rock I think it was called. They hold the old combat master award as the highest achievement. Don't know if anyone has passed the test since the invention of the electronic timer. You can do a lot better in a school.
A lot better than nothing, though, if you aren't going to train anywhere else, I guess.
Didn't see the scientology, but this was a while back.
Lots of sales push for the family first plans.
The place is surrounded with controversy due to Nash's efforts to turn it into a city/community which hasn't materialized.
Sounds like he threatens to sue if you don't post good stuff, which is probably why Pangris isn't posting. He can subpoena me in Gloster.
Pangris will probably have better instructors come to the BR area, unless you just want to go to Vegas.:D

Well i guess its my turn.

I went at the end of oct for the four day defensive handgun and the 1 day ccw class. I went with my dad, mom and uncle who has been a police officer for 33 years now.

First I will say it was about an hour outside of vegas, which was not fun driving out there at 6am every morning, but it was very scenic. We got there the first day and from the moment you pull into the property everything is very organized. They tell you where to park and what to do. When you get there, you have to check in your guns basically make sure they are good to go along with your holster and ammo (they don't want you shooting reloads). After that it was into the large meeting room. Keep in mind, in my class they had over 400 people. We sat in the class for maybe an hour or so for a basic introduction. After that we were split up between 15 ranges. At my range, we had about 30 people. There was one range master and 2 other frontsight instructors, so it was basically a 10 to 1 ratio.

We then were briefed on some basic loading and unloading procedures, and told to get a partner. Your partner was basically your coach for the weekend. They would watch you shoot and you would do the same. There was not 5 minutes of shooting time where I did not have a frontsight instructor watching and training me on proper techniques. We got to do a night shoot and the shoot house also in this course.

I was very uneasy about spending that much money plus flight and what not to go out there, and i had read mixed reviews. I figured what the heck, i will give it a chance. Now, im ready to buy a life membership in spring and im planning on going back atleast twice a year.

I watched frontsight take me mom, who had basicly never shot a gun in her life. When she left she was able to properly draw from her holster and fire two accurate shots at the chest in about 2 seconds. She is one hundred times more confident in handling and using firearms now. I also watched my uncle who has been though countless leo training, learn things he was never taught before.

So basically, if you have never been there, dont judge until you have.

I have plenty of pictures from there if anyone is interested. also pm me if you have any questions about it or where to stay when going out there.

PS: people may think it was expensive, but they were offering us $2500 life memberships which included about 70% of their classes when we were out there.

PSS: sorry if my spelling is off, i didn't read it after i typed all of this.
