    Colt. They literally wrote the book (TDP) on military M4 specifications. The Colt 6920 is identical to issue M4s, sans 14.5" barrel and fun switch, and is built to the same specs.

    That's assuming you want a basic M4 style carbine. If you want something fancier, Daniel Defense is the way to go.

    I would throw the FN15 in the mix as well. FN has had a DOD contract for over a decade as well. Their civilian guns are nearly mil spec similar to the Colt guns from my understanding, although I have never actually seen one in real life yet.
