It was my brother's kid and they are getting him some counseling. He's a Hero for saving his mom.

If/When your nephew is feeling low over what happened. Remind him he did what he had to do and not what he wanted to do. The armed intruder took all other choices away.

If your family is in the faith read Exodus 22:2 "If a thief is caught in the act of breaking into a house and is struck and killed in the process, the person who killed the thief is not guilty of murder."

My prayers go out to this young man and his household. He did what none of us want to do, but all would do if in that situation.

My nephew is doing better and working with counselors. They have several very large dogs. The case is ongoing so I can't comment
