I have to get a heating rod to control the humidity in my safe but am unsure which brand to go with. What brand/model do you have? How long have you had it? How well does it work? I will be buying this for a 24 Gun safe.

Like VeedUp said, a container of Damp Rid works well in addition to the rod.

A rod will raise the internal temp of the safe and of the firearms that are in it (keeping condensation from forming). The damp rid will actually REMOVE the moisture. It's a good two step process.

My safe came with a bag of that, and I also put a Stack-On rechargeable dehumidifier in there as well, but I need something to keep the safe at a somewhat constant and warm temp. When I take a gun outside in the middle of the day when its really hot, the gun will condensate because the safe is so cold inside. What brand rod do you have?

This is the one I use. Works like a dream, and is easy to store.

I use the same one plus this Remington rechargeable one.

I keep a gauge in my safe and it's always at ideal levels. I just have to make sure I recharge the dehumidifier every couple of months.

Those are the same type that I have, only mine is Stack-On. I am not totally sure that I didn't get a 'lemon' because the little beads don't turn blue anymore. This happened after this first recharge. Now they pretty well all stay the same color which is clearish pink, no matter how long I charge it.

I have been comparing 2 brands of rods, GoldenRod and Lockdown. So far I see most here have the Lockdown, does anyone know about the GoldenRod?

Since I was born, worked great for about 30 years but has been hit-or-miss lately. :mamoru:

Oh the one in my safe...only about 3 years. They are very simple devices though, I can't imagine what would go wrong.

It's hard to break something so small.....

Especially if you keep it tucked away.

In the bottom of your safe where you won't drop anything on it. :D
